No, I actually mean RX 480. It might have been the founders edition and not the Pre-order edition though, I can't remember. But it was some more expensive but not better version of it.

Not worth it.

Hello! First of all, heres my current setup:

CPU: Ryzen 7 1700

Mobo: Asus Prime X370-Pro

RAM: 2x8GB G.Skill Trident Z RGB DDR4-3000

PSU: CoolerMaster G450M 450W (83% (bronze) efficiency)

GPU: Gainward GTX 1060 6GB

I'm kind of torn 'cause I have looked up some benchmarks and it seems to be overall worse than the GTX 1060. I'd like to know your opinion on that!

if u wanna trade ur card for a 10% slower card that also eats 20% more electricity go for it... its a waste trading no matter what the version is... its mostly about the gpu not wht version it is

The reference RX480 sucks big time because the stock cooler sucks. Polaris scales with temperature. The cooler the GPU, the higher you can overclock it. A 1500MHz RX480/RX580 is as good as any GTX1060.

Really not recommend anyone buys the reference RX480.

Yeah, that's why I'm not sure. He also said he can run GTA 5 at all settings maxed out (apart from MSAA, reflection MSAA and this supersampling in the further options) and still get 70-75fps on 1080p. So I'm confused since he never said that it's faster than a regular RX 480 or that he has an OC running.

the 1060 is quiker no matter what he says, the extra vram wont benefit much at all on that card , 6gb is plenty for that performance range

ive had a amd fanboy friend who said hes 6870 could run gta v on ultra with 60fps < same story man xD ( just exampl xD )

if hes card was better why would eh wanna trade, no 1 would trade for a worse thing :v

If you already have the GTX1060 6GB, why would you want to trade for a RX480??????

He asked me if I'd wanna trade and changing GPU's is easy so I considered it. But I want to infor myself about something like this since I have literally never dealt with any AMD card in my life.

GTA5 is an Nvidia title. Even the best RX480/580 cannot match a GTX1060.

He is also one of those who believe that AMD cards run better in AMD systems and Nvidia cards run better in Intel systems, that's why he wants to trade.

Why would someone trade for a worse card? If the 'seller' is so confident that the 480 is better than your 1060 then he wouldn't be trading it

EDIT: Just refreshed and saw your response nvm. We have all told you the 1060 is better just keep your old card

CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 1600Motherboard - Asus Strix B350-F GAMING, RAM -  Corsair Vengeance RGB 16GB (2x8GB) 3000Mhz CL15, GPU - Asus Strix GTX 1070Ti, Case - Phanteks Eclipse P400S, Storage - Crucial BX300 240GB + Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5", PSU - Corsair CS650M, OS- Win10 Pro

Unless you were going to watercool the card there is no way I would trade a 1060 for a reference rx480.  The fact that he wants to trade you makes me think something is wrong with the card.  Reference cards were not that great temp wise and the guy has probably baked it mining non stop for the last year and trying to get rid of it before it dies.

I am not an amd fanboy, but I love my rx480, I would not personally trade it for a 1060.  Most of the games that I play are dx12 games that do run better on my rx480 than they would on a 1060, and the ones that arent dx12 are mostly older games that get so high fps on any modern card it doesnt matter what you use.  I also mine crypto when I am not gaming or working on something so I like my rx480 for that as well.

If people wanna no why I wood trade it..I’ll tell you now ..gtx cards are like all rounds but amd card have less compatibly..but if you want to play all old Xbox 360 game at 4K 60fps. And even some over title like mgs5 runs at 40 to 60 FPS 4K. And here’s a another one .alien isolation run60 4K ultra   And don’t forget doom 4K 35 to 37FPS ..you can play most game relly good  and it can play nearly anything ..it just that a lot of game that have come out like destiny 2 and a few old games like over watch and  and vermin tired and war hammer eternal crusade are relly bad to play but destiny 2 can stick at 30 FPS but not that well ..overwatch use to be 4K 30fps solid ..but some one fucked with the game so now it has trouble staying at 60 1080..and I think who ever fuck with the game is a dick ..and that’s why I want 1060 .so me and my friends that come to my house can play games at Just 1080p at Just 60fps ..if you like be limited in some games and don’t mind it then yall get a bonus in capable games for rx480 with higher frame rate ..and res ..and I the only reason why I might no why you want an rx480 is because of newer game might.or shud be getting more Vulcan support..so I wood be the dumb one lol. ..but it don’t matter to me because my Rex pc is just a spare pc for friend and family to use ..anyway let me no what you think

Nice setup, I have a very similar build.

If you are planning on using or getting a Freesync monitor then I could see the appeal in switching over to AMD but I wouldn't trade your 1060 for a rx 480 maybe for an rx 580 8 GB if you need it for freesync if not its a wash between the two in terms of performance.  If your playing on a 60hz screen you will not notice any difference between the two.

I have a Asus Dual RX 580 8GB and a Asus MG248Q 144hz 1ms Freesync monitor and its an excellent 1080p gaming experience.

cheers
