I got a laptop for university. I soon had to realize that you can't play many newer titles on a Nvidia 525M so i got myself a proper gaming PC. I use the laptop for when i go home over the weekend but other than that my PC is just way better. :D

who cares...

I personally have both. Actually own multiple laptops and parts to make 2 extra desktops also.

Model Numbers as per request:

Lenovo T61P (out of action due to broken screen hinges)

Acer 5552 (Athlon II, 4GB, HD4250)(heatsink does a great job of idling at 90+*C)

Acer Aspire one D250 (Works, just slow)

Precision M90/6300 (busted screen, but everything else is fully functional).

On desktops, I have a no name 350 watt PSU, a 600 watt OCZ, several random HDDs, ASrock H61DE/S3, Z77 Extreme 4, random sticks of DDR3, and a couple Celeron (1155 socket) that could be used, but nothing to use them for.

As for why I choose to use both, work. That is all. Laptops are nice to have, but on a useful venture, they fall behind fast, but it would be extremely difficult to bolt a desktop to the truck and come up with a generator to power it.

Laptop for portability, school, and light gaming. Desktop for heavier gaming. I can barely tolerate my laptop not having a boot SSD though. :P

I can be a cynical a**hole at times. I apologize if I cause any offence at those time. I also occasionally have issues communicating my point. Extreme introversion + Photographic memory + Some other things.

Desktop: i5-4670k - 8gb 1600MHz - MSI 7850

Laptop: i7-4810QM - GTX 870m - 8gb RAM

My laptop is an Asus Vivobook S200 with a Pentium B987 1.50GhZ for school and light browsing, as the metal frame is portable and slim to go in my school bag.

And for gaming and serious work, I have my desktop (specs in sig), while not very portable, is more suited to longer sessions of typing due to a mechanial keyboard.

I'm thinking of getting a surface pro 2 to combine the laptop and tablet for travelling for the sake of convenience

Not a bad idea :) but you could get something similar from a different brand of course, with a bulkier keyboard.... I find the surface's keyboard not good enough ;) But hay, you may love it! :) I would just try it out before you buy though!

PROFILEYEAH

What do people even put in these things?
