Monitor for PS4 PRO and PC gaming/work

Dalius

Hi, I need to choose a single monitor to fit my needs:

1. Gaming with PS4 PRO

2. Gaming with PC (plans to get a decent one with GTX 1080 Ti in future)

3. Work with 3d graphics

What I have figured now it has to be an IPS panel with high refresh rate. But cannot decide between 1440p and 4k.

1440p would be a great option for PC gaming but ps4 will output only 1080p and might look crappy. Where on the other hand 4k would be great for work and PS4 but not good for PC gaming.

Thanks fellas

For a PS4 Pro get a 4K monitor, however if you just get a normal PS4, 1440p monitors still look better once you have tweaked some sharpness settings.

What do you think is less worse?

a. 1440p 144hz IPS for upscaled 1080p PS4 PRO and native 1440p PC gaming

b. 4K 144hz IPS for native 4k PS4 PRO and upscaled from 1440p PC gaming

I can only choose one because of space limmitation

You won't want to run your PC at 1440p on a 4K monitor as text won't look very good.

Also, do you already have the PS4 Pro? Don't get one if your not going to be doing 4K.

I had a dual monitor setup for this, a 4K monitor for PS4 Pro, and a 165hz 1440p for PC.  I am running on a 1080ti. Honestly if I could, I will play all my games on high refresh rate monitor.

Thanks, I just realised that 4k high refresh rate monitors are coming in 2018 and will cost a shit load of money.

Unfortunately I have to choose one monitor.

4K 144Hz will be very difficult to run unless the Titan card and xx80 Ti card of Nvidia Ampere come out. I'll tell you get a 4K 60Hz monitor. If you are a casual gamer, it won't be much of a difference between low and high refresh rates. It was the same for me, unless I got an ultrawide (as it fit in my budget). Even I do 3D rendering and 4K helped me a lot.

If you got the money dell up2718q is one of the better choices. It has both 4K and HDR support, It's also one few monitors on the market which can do true HDR.

Higher Refresh rate will do nothing for PS4Pro, since it can't surpass 60hz.

Current Build: Project Frost
Gaming Rig Build: Project Ice Dragon

I have picked LG 27UD69-W as it has a great value for money. It has freesync and low input lag hence fits ps4 pro. 10bit colour depth should give a good picture. So I think I can skip HDR for the price round €460
