F510 mentioned above is much better

Doesn't have backlit keyboard though. I should have mentioned that as well.

What's his/her budget? Usually Vivobooks have OKish build quality (entry level IPS panel or TN panel, OKish input devices, some plastic is used for chassis etc) and mediocre battery battery life

The budget is closest to £500.00 as possible, thats $672.69

Just got a Vivobook F510a for my mom. Build quality passable, not good. Keyboard lackluster with lots of flex. However the CPU is solid i5 8250U, and the screen is quite nice, and is ips 1080p. Excellent ports, 3 usb a, 1 type c, sd reader, HDMI, headphone jack. For $500 US I'm pleased with it. It only came with a 1TB HDD but a small ssd is cheap. Battery life so far has been good. Just my 2 cents since this isn't the model you're looking at.

Edit: Also the trackpad is fine, if a tad small. Really satisfying clickiness too. Has a fingerprint sensor on it about 1cm square which doesn't track movement if you pass over it, but it hasn't been too annoying.
