ESD AND CASES PLZ HELP

Leoram425

I’m very new to pc building and I have to say I’m enjoying it to far. However today I received my case it was the fractal design define c. I opened it up and such it just to look at it and stuff, when I was putting it back though I remembered touching a few of those connectors like the power, power LED,HDD LED and the USB 3.0 connector. And I was also pushing the actual power button and such on top of the case. Well me not knowing much about pc building i freaked out because I thought I could of caused some sort of static discharge ESD whatever it’s called. I’m just really paranoid by it, so should I be worried at all and could any of my connectors/power buttons and such be damaged?

P.S I didn’t feel any actual sparks when touching the case

In general, static discharge isn't really a problem with newer components, since they have built-in measures in case such thing happens. You should be fine, try to boot everything up and see if it works. (I guess that's the only way to figure out :P)

"May your frame rates be high and your temperatures low"

I misread titles/posts way too often--correct me if I don't.

Don't be worried about it too much. ESD can kill components, but unless you dragged your butt across your carpet like a dog and then specifically touched your header pins, you're fine. Just remember to touch a grounded metal surface before handling computer components and you will be good.

Bud, you touched more or less the only components in a PC that are 100% immune to ESD.

Inert cables can't be shocked.

Want to custom loop?  Ask me more if you are curious
