Can someone point me in the direction of some good guides for a synology NAS? I tend to get frustrated more often than not in recent years while attempting to search for information.

I'm setting up a NAS at my uncle's to hold his CD collection and just need to be able to access it from my home computer to upload what I rip.

I guess this is a non-topic since it's probably rather basic, just ran out of time on the weekend and don't have it in me after work.  A point in the right direction would help speed thing's up this weekend.

You don't need to access his PC. Synology DSM is accessed and managed from the browser entirely. Port forward 5000 (HTTP) and 5001 (HTTPS) and write down the WAN IP address so you can connect to the web interface directly. Just add the port at the end (i.e. http://123.456.789.012:5000) and logon. You can upload files within the file station application there.

if all you want is easy upload to his synology you could setup the cloud station and create a folder on your PC that is automatically synced to the synology, i do the same with the pictures of my mom just the other way around, she puts them into a folder and they will get mirrored to my synology.

The Synology Forum might be your best friend. The people here are quite knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful.
