So every now and then, in fact somewhat rarely, my PSU fan decides to have a massive hissy fit and starts to make horrendous grinding noises at me. The unit isn't too old, about 2-ish years by now so I'm not sure it's an age related problem.

So I ask a somewhat idiotic question. I know it's very much advised against taking apart a PSU because of the bits and bobs inside it being volatile but is there any -safe and tested- method of taking a PSU to pieces just to replace or fix the fan? Or is it a case of "It's busted, get a new one, don't risk blowing yourself up".

I'd want to get some more milage out of my PSU before considering a replacement given it's of a good quality (Corsair 80+ Bronze, 750w semi-modular),
