Which is better I3 8350k vs r5 1600
At stock speeds, the R5 1600 beats the 8350k, overclock the R5 1600 gets you a good performance boost, when the 8350k is overclocked to say 4.8GHz for example, it nearly has identical performance to an i5-8400 at stock speeds. Honestly, overclocking the 8350k to insanly high overclocks like 4.8-5.0GHz to gain a little bit of performance isnt worth it considering that you have to factor in the cost of sufficient cooling to keep the CPU at stabe temps when overclocking and the performance bump isnt too much to say a "little bit of an increase" in performance. From benchmarks, the 8350k when overclocked to 4.8GHz delivers about a 10fps advantage to a R5 1600 OCed to 4.0GHz, the fps increase can be a little bit more in some other games. The 10fps advantage in games might be noticable, or wont be at all, if the R5 1600 is the same price as the 8350k, then get it, delivers solid gaming performance and also does well in productivity workloads as well. +Zen 2 is supported on the AM4 platform and will provide better performance when its released. B350 motherboards are also cheaper, you get the included wraith cooler (might get around a 3.7GHz overclock; 3.8GHz stable, can also get an aftermarket cooler for $30 (suggestions: CRYORIG H7/hyper 212 evo) ) and some good DDR4 memory.
