Ryzen or Intel?

ph0coos

I'm planning to build my first gaming pc for my transition from console to pc. I came up with two build lists on pcpartpicker.com (links below), one with an intel i5 cpu and the other with a ryzen 5 cpu. I'm not sure which one I should go with but I have been leaning towards intel, any advice or recommendations on changes in my overall build and also to help me decide which platform to go with. Thanks a lot in advance!

There's literally no point in getting Kaby Lake. Either get the i5-8400 and a compatible Z370 motherboard (your only choice, you won't be able to OC unless you get the 8600k) or Ryzen R5 1600 with B350 or X370 motherboard if you are going to overclock.

This is slightly more expensive but is much better:

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/fY8JYr

If your willing to fiddle with your graphics card a bit a vega 56 would offer decent value (as your new idk if you'd be comfortable with bios flashing and such so i opted for a 1070ti)

For paying the extra $80 you get:

-Double the ram

-Much better cpu

-Bettter graphics card

-Better quality and higher wattage power supply
