Do I have to clean off and redo the thermal paste on the i7?

a month or two ago when I installed a noctua nh-d15 fan on my friends i7, the fan was too big we were unable to put in the fan cables to plug in that we had to unscrew the fan out, while I had taken out I accidentally putted the fan on top of my legs where the thermal paste bottoms touched it leaving a permanent thermal paste mark on my shorts. Without bothering to clean off and put in new thermal paste we thoguht that since its new and haven't been use, while it covered the whole entire CPU (which I dont think it matters no matter what line or dot method you use for it), but when I finished buildiung his PC few days ago this paranoia had came to me.

His PC on his bios show its at 30C before I installed windows on his computer. is his CPU still safe?

OP's friend's computer might be fine, but I would definitely clean the heatsink with IPA, but if you don't have IPA and it's working fine then it probably won't cause any problems.

Main rig:

• Ryzen 3600X • X370 Killer SLI • 16GB Corsair LPX 3200Mhz • Strix 1070ti • Define R5 • SuperNova 750 G2 • Evo 1TB + X300 4TB •

Secondary rig:

• Acer prebuilt • Rzyen 1700X (upgraded) • OEM 1060 3GB • 256GB SSD + 1TB Seagate (upgraded) •

If the CPU gets abnormally hot or even overheats then the paste might be causing problems.

Should I have my friend test it out for a while now and monitor it through games? Or should idleing it be enough to tell?

another reason on why I didn't want to fix it was because of the type of "alcohol" I need to clean it off. That I do not know of
