Duo r9 390 in future or one gpu?

One more powerlful gpu is better than 2 , because of crossfore/sli issues.

I've a r9 390 now with corsair rm1000i.

 

Should I sell my corsair rm1000i, get a less powerful psu, then get a less power hungry 1070 or 1170(if it's the name) in the future?

My rm1000i has stupid coil whine at low wattage usage 

and my r9 390 warms the room abit here and there

 

Any PSU for about 550w-650w without any coil whine?

Dual GPU cards are of the past. At this point GPU architecture is powerful enough to drive virtually anything out there. 

Dual GPU card had their place but at this point cost and use case would mostly be a limited/very small minority and bragging rights thing.

Simply no demand for such a thing anymore.
