Is a 240hz monitor even worth it ?

Hello everyone,

 

(sorry in advance for my bad English, I'm from Germany)

 

I'm thinking about getting a 240hz monitor, but there is one thing which keeps me away from a purchase, and that is: reaching the 240 fps.

I have an i7 6800k and a GTX 1080 Ti and I barely can reach these numbers.

So, here is the thing: if I lower my settings to low and 1080p, my GPU won't run at full load, but if I turn the settings up and to 1440p, then the card will run at full load.

So lowering the settings gives me nearly the same fps as playing on high.

 

So in the end my question is:

is a 240hz monitor even worth it ? Especially for playing modern games like BF1 or CoD WW2 ?

 

(And if someone says yes: what hardware do I need to reach these numbers ?)
