1600 vs 1600x *SAME PRICE*

I bought a MSI Armor 1080 lately and I'm planning to buy a 1440p 165hz G-Sync monitor in the future, and needs a good cpu for that with good OC Potential.

I don't want to spend too much but 1600 goes for 215$ and the 1600x for 220$, adding a cooler is really the only diff.

does it change the meta-game a bit? :D

Were you going to buy a $25 cooler anyways? If so 1600X at the same price to hopefully hit 4ghz at lower voltages.

Whatever motherboard you get though be sure to slap a fan on the VRM

Ryzen will do something like 100fps average in AAA Games, the Coffee Lake parts are faster, but I don't know if they're in stock yet.

What's the budget for the upgrade?

Also I'd suggest you forget G-sync and go for this $399 1440p 144hz IPS display, it has free-sync but that won't matter, still a solid display at a lower price

Are you willing to OC?

If yes, 1600. If no, 1600x.

I can recall to have heard someone saying 1600x has a bit more OC headroom tho, so not sure.

At best you might see .1 ghz higher OCs with the 1600x. That's not enough to really make much of a difference.

Exactly, having them out of stock week after week plus the z370's price is what turned me down and made me #GoRyzen :D

Will it be compatible with a ASUS ROG B350-F or perhaps one of the mid-tier Asrock Mobos? just to make sure

the 1600x is basically a better binned 1600, so yeah, they typically oc a bit better and for 5bucks more its a good deal.

Usually it is about a 30-50 dollar difference and that si why the 1600x typically is not worth the upgrade

well I planned to use the 1600 with its stock cooler but not sure if the OC will be as good this way, i could benefit from OCed 1600X I guess, and adding 30$ in the long run use isn't a biggy if it will be of help for gaming u see.

Weather or not you get the 1600 or the 1600X you will get a huge benefit out of using something other than the stock cooler. Regardless of which one you pick, for the best OC possible you want an aftermarket cooler.

Unfortunately it's not possible for me :(

my bro lives in the US and pays a visit over here (Israel) and that's why it was possible to make these orders through either Amazon or NewEgg and have the equipment with him in the bags, but can't rly say the same for a montior hehe.

OH WELL, with the extremely high prices in my country it's either 165hz TN Panelled 1440p monitor with G-Sync for 520$ or saving money and stay with some garbage 60hz 1080p monitor which used to be IPS but showing electromagnetic waves or some weirdass shit :)

be careful with the import fees then, I dont know about israel but in germany you are only allowed goods that are worth 400EUR total, otherwise you will be having to pay humongous taxes

So someone here suggested me this cooler for the CPU:

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA4UF2DZ6565&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-PCPartPicker, LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

does it cool the VRM aswell or i need a seperate cooler for that? cuz i dunno what fan do i need to put ayy..

I do have some fans in my current setup i suppose but im not sure if they're any good and I have never cleaned em' so they might be in a pure shit state atm y'see.

(I do clean the pc with a dust cleaner spray once in a while but I don't open the fans and go into real depths)

yeah taxes is a bitch, when my bro gets us stuff he usually goes unnoticed and everything goes well but last time i made a PC upgrade(gtx 670 and shit) and asked him to bring me the stuff at 2012, he did get caught and we paid like 300~400$ taxes for some stuff and phones aswell which sucks but it's really just bad luck and usually doesn't occur :(

usually the ample airflow in a case and from the cooler is enough to cool the vrms.

If you want to be certain you can flip your cpu cooler 180° and do a rear and top intake

are you sure free-sync isn't cheaper still in general even in your area? You can usually get an IPS free-sync display for the cost of a G-sync TN display over here

yeah, the g-sync panely are really hard to find for good price in europe, but you can use freesync since the radeon cards are just not good enouhg to push such high framerates wihtout requiring a nuclear powerplant

I feel you, the workers are getting more knowledgeable on the worth of items as times move on is what i'd think so I wouldn't be surprised if he'd be caught these days but when he visited back in new year he looked like a total foreign (not israeli) cuz he lives in the US for freaking 9 years already and has extremely good american accent and when they tried to call him in hebrew he ignored and then they shouted "sir!! sir!!" and he was like "yeah?" hahahah even though he can understand and speak hebrew and they were like "Oh he must not be Israeli so we don't need to check for taxes" ROFL

the taxes are usually not that bad if you adminiter your stuff before they find you smuggling, it is just something that you need to put into your calculations if you are shopping abroad
