PSN Sign In Issues on a new PS4

So I got my PS4 late last night and of course I immediately wanted to get on and play, I have my 14 day free trial and everything. Problem is, I haven't been able to sign in to PSN on my PS4 since 9 pm last night and it's 5pm the next day already. Is anybody else having issues or is it just me? Am I doing something wrong? I don't think I am since it's not that hard to sign in to PSN... so far a pretty crappy experience on PS4 despite high hopes.

I don't have a PS4, but I would see if you're able to log-in through a browser. If you are, it could be the PS4 itself.

I'm able to log in through the browser and the PSN app on my phone...

If you get me.

First one I've owned, I setup an account online before the PS4 got here and I'm just trying to sign in.

What is the exact error message you're getting?

EDIT: Have you updated the PS4 to the latest software release?

"This service is undergoing maintenance" I know that they might legitimately be doing maintenance but having PSN down for almost 24 hours seems a bit much.

Look in your settings and check that your System clock (Date and time) is synced via the internet and not manually set. Also check that the Daylight savings setting is set to "Standard". Seems to help other people when I had a quick Google. :)

Interesting fix but it's already synced via internet and I don't see a "standard" option for daylight savings, just a check box to have it adjust the time automatically which I have checked. The time on the PS4 matches my PC and my phone. I also had the PS4 connected via ethernet so I tried signing in over wifi but still nothing.

Sorry, I've been away the past few days. I really thought that would have done it for you, is the problem still persisting?

I went through all the troubleshooting on the PlayStation website, even called my ISP and had them open ports on my router, also got a replacement PS4 from the place I bought it but nothing worked. So I created a new account on the PS4 (the one I was trying to sign in to I had made on the PS website before I got the console) and boom it worked, literally not issues so now I have a working account and a dud account so all is good.
