Which monitor for my 1080?

Swesaera

I'm looking to get a new monitor that has g-sync, 144hz, 1-4ms and preferably IPS(meaning the monitor would be 4ms) for gaming and I was wondering if it was worth paying more to get a 1440p monitor.

These are the two monitors I am looking at:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Acer-Predator-Tracking-Assassins-Syndicate/dp/B01N7J0Z9U/

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Dell-Ultrasharp-S2417DG-60-5cm-23-8-black/dp/B01IOO4SGK/

Are these worth it? Does one stand out more than the other?

for 27 inches, I would recommend the curved predator over the dell. That size monitor in front of you can at times be to large, and for me atleast the curve helps with that a lot.

So I have the 1440p version of the Acer Predator. The one with 165hz (overclocked) IPS and Gsync. I love it. Once you have something like this the nice thing is it will last and pay for it self in your gaming experience. Since were still (at least) 1-2 years from 2k or 4k becoming financially mainstream this monitor should do you fine for at least the next few years.

I would rather agree on what we share, than fight on what we don't. - Myself

The Dell is worth it.

The Acer NOT. It has 27", and offers only a mere 1080p resolution (but tobii eye tracking)

The Dell has a quite good TN Panel, but offers a very sharp 1440p resolution, which you can see very noticeably. Even at 24", i think, 1440p looks way sharper and better than 1080p. Especially in Gaming, where stuff like vegetation, gras, trees, Stairs, Windows flicker Much less, and are sharper overall.

The Acer competition for the DelL S2417dg is the Acer XB241YU. I had both, and have the Acer right now.

Dell has a cleaner anti-glare coating.

Acer has a much better OSD with a native Gamma option.

GTX 1080 does have the power, to drive 2560x1440. So make use of that :) Also, especially with the GPU after your GTX 1080 in a few years - your Monitor wil stil be in use then.

I would absolutely NOT buy 1080p anymore for that Price, period. Get 1440p  :)

@Thinkfreely *nitpicking mode on* since 1920x1080 is considered "2k" (if anything), it is already mainstream :P But i know, what resolution you mean. 2560x1440 is not 2k tho, no matter how you see it. it's called WQHD
