Is it a limit for how many Hdd's and/or ssd's you can cram into your system, if we dont think about physical ports and space in your case??
For example is it ok to hook 7 ssd's up to a intel core-i5 6600k?
If there is a limit, where do you find it?

You'll probably hit a limit with the number of ports on the motherboard first, and then probably hit a bottleneck with the controller if you were hitting them all hard at the same time.

If you want to consider PCIe expanders, SAS expanders, etc., you could hook up literally tens of thousands of hard drives to a single PC.   Only limited by proximity issues, power consumption, and RAID rebuild bandwidth/times.
