Well obviously 1700 is better, but it costs more.

Make sure to quote me or tag me when responding to me, or I might not know you replied! Examples:

Buy whatever product is best for you, not what product is "best" for the market.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

1700 is better ... both have same IPC and clock speed, while R7 1700 have 2 extra cores.

It's a no brainer for me, if you can afford it.

1700 of course. And I would recommend it over the 1700x if you feel like overclocking (which you should) because you can save money and get the same performance.

R7 1700 will give you better performance of course, and if you can afford it then I would get it. Also, you can make by with the stock cooler so it's good value.

what do you mean, Graphical Design? there are a LOT of circumstances where one would work better than the other. PS for instance is a heavy single threaded workload, whereas Premiere will leverage as many cores as you can throw at it.

if it came down to gaming and single core performance, the better choice is the 1600, and you can then throw more money at a GPU worth having.
