Hi, I am looking to upgrade to one of the new phones from Apple this year, but I can't decide on whether I should get the 8 Plus or the X. Here is the article that convinced me to put more thought into it instead of just getting the X like most people would recommend. Price isn't really an issue for me, I'm primarily focused on the practicality and want whichever would be well balanced in all aspects of the average person's everyday life. I mostly use my phone for watching videos, browsing social media, listening to music, and very minimal gaming on the go. So I guess whichever has a good balance of sound quality, battery life, display, and cameras would be the option, but I don't know a whole bunch about the mobile world so that's why I'm here. Also, please don't just jump on the bandwagon and say "Get the X because it's better" or something along the lines of that because there are many reasons for some people to get the 8 Plus instead of the X. The standard 8, however, is completely off my radar and I want nothing to do with it. Anyone who can give a slightly more advanced explanation or opinion and can keep it in terms an average person could understand would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Well, the X isn't out, so anyone's opinion on it is going to be based on an amalgamation of information from the internet. If all you need is a phone, get the 8 plus. If you're looking to be on the edge of tech, get the X. I don't see it being super advantageous. I see it as a phone geared towards those that like the latest and greatest w/ the knowledge that there will be compromises.

Hi,

first of all, do you want Apple exclusivelly? Becaused based on your use cases, I would recommend the Note 8 more than an 8 Plus or the X. There is no such thing as the notch on the X and if you want your phone for a longer time, I highly recommend to buy something with edge to edge display. But if you really want an iPhone, then get the X. It is the first iPhone with Face ID, which I think is not worth it, but it looks like Apple will never bring Touch ID back (headphone jack, ehm), so getting it now will help you adapt better. Also, the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus is not really worth it, against iPhone 7 and 7 Plus.

It depends on how big a display you want. The plus has a larger wider screen size because of the notch on the X at the top and because the x display is narrower. Width matters if you want a more tablet like experience from a phone.

Id probably go 8 plus, but i like a wide display. Unfortunately they both have a glass back. Meaning youll need a case inless u like to live dangerously. This robs recent iPhones of one of their appeals for me. An aluminum back that makes a case unnecessary(if u get a glass screen protector).

CPU: Ryzen 7 3700x,  MOBO: ASUS TUF X570 Gaming Pro wifi, CPU cooler: Noctua U12a RAM: Gskill Ripjaws V @3600mhz,  GPU: Asus Tuf RTX OC 3080 PSU: Seasonic Focus GX850 CASE: Lian Li Lancool 2 Mesh Storage: 500 GB Inland Premium M.2,  Sandisk Ultra Plus II 256 GB & 120 GB

I agree about the glass back, I honestly want them to go back to the 5s design. Although I personally plan to upgrade my 6s+ to an X. I've thought about the narrower screen, but I personally don't think that will bother me too much, plus I really would like a smaller phone.

Despite the iPhone X coming out, I personally would get the iPhone 8 Plus. The iPhone 8 Plus has all the high end specs that the iPhone X has, minus the minimal bezels. It has wireless charging and looks very stylish B|! Although you said that price wasn't an issue, I don't feel as if the iPhone X is worth the money. Sure it is apple's new flagship and has these cool functions, but I think the 8 Plus is more than enough!
