You could have bought an 8700K and gotten better performance.

Only for gaming. In multi-threaded applications the 5960x is still faster. Having said that... it's only 10% faster which means the price is not worth it at all. That and a R7 1800x would beat it in multithreaded apps for much less as well.

It's more like 6% faster, and only in multithread.

Also, it overclocks less, you're never going to see a 5960X get 5GHz on an air or AIO cooler.

On top of that, the 8700k has much better single core performance.

 

So overall, the 8700k is cheaper, performs better, overclocks better, and would be new, not used like this outdated CPU that OP bought.

I'm planning just used 5930K with Air Cooler is pull out to upgrade 5960X with Water Cooler Corsair H115i put on X99 Deluxe.

You did good. Don’t let these guys put you down too much. I just bought one yesterday with a asus x99 ws. But I only paid $500 Canadian for both. This is replacing my 980x. We will both enjoy the 5960x for another 5 years+++.

The i7 5960x is still really good for multi-threaded workloads but indeed shows its age when it comes down to single thread performance... still a good pick by all means though.
