8600k vs 8700k

How big of a difference in gaming performance does the i7 8700k have compared to i5 8600k? According to userbenchmark and the tests ive seen on youtube they are very similar. I am not looking for overclocking and i wont be streaming.

What graphics card you're planning to pair it with? unless you're going GTX 1080 Ti the i5 8600k should suffice for a gaming only rig.

Same (+- 5%) at 1440p and below, probably a small difference at 4k (favoring the i7).  I say get the 8600k, just because its $100-$150 cheaper and because you could totally stream with it if you wanted.

8700k is marginally better due to the slightly higher clock speeds.

Might as well save a bit of money and get the 8600k though, will still smash all/most games you throw at it, and could still stream if you wanted to in the future.

FPS will be the same if you only play game and no streaming.

In some cases i5 8600k will even pull ahead.

 

I'm concidering buying 8600k myself aswell. It has 6 strong cores, so there is no need to worry if some task will be put on "weak" threads from multithreading feature.

8600k is also cheaper, doesn't run as hot and can be overclocked further.

Meanwhile it will be better than any 4c/8t CPU.

Im going for the 1080 probably. It should be good enough. Not like im going to play games at 4k.

Im not going to play at 4k so im just gonna get the 8600k.
