As you can see, the picture has 2 news stories saying one amount of money spent on an important document and another news story with (most likely) inaccurate information.

Not trying to sound like our president, but the media really needs to Improve and be more accurate.

I'm less worried about money conversion errors and more on misreported/exaggerated events that may or may not have happened.

Edit: To clarify: Not suggesting that whatever titanic news never happened, but other news in general.

Or, and this is a radical, wild take by me, but hear me out, just give me a chance.

The letter actually sold for £126,000 and the MSN article has converted that to $166 000 US Dollars since that's an American website but meanwhile that result from ABC Online, which is the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and has converted £126,000 to $212 000 Australian Dollars, because it's an Australian news service, in Australia, with an Australian audience, who would best understand the cost in Australian dollars.

So you have come here ranting about 'accuracy in the media' when the real issue is 'You don't know that there are other countries are a thing'.  But the good news is that by being ignorant of other nations than your own, you do still sound like your president. :3

Stop forcing your radical ideas on the existence of other currencies on us.

Actually, it was until I read the responses that I realized what the OP was even talking about.

I seemed kinda obvious that they were using different currencies, since the Pound value is the same.

Do you expect people to think before bitching?

Sadly people aren't taught to think critically anymore nor do they have the attention span to read more than the title of something.

Ever considered that both our president and our media are wrong?

Yes... Maybe Australian Dollars and United States Dollars actually have the same value on the exchange rates and it's a mass conspiracy by the media to manipulate the currency market...

no I mean in general. You cannot possibly believe the US media has any less of an agenda and intentionally mislead, omit, or even lie to further it, than the president and his supporters?

And that people, is how you keep a threat from getting political and being locked by the mods but instead keeping it about an American not knowing that Australia is a country that has it's own currency and media outlets.

Stop trying to pretend like Australia isn't just a country full of rejects.

Irrelevant to the OP's ignorance, but ABC did get it a bit wrong (0.3% off), they rounded down instead of up.

£126,000 GBP = $212,617.44 AUD

That said, understating it is better than overstating it in that kind of article.
