Warm Wifi router

pomkon

I recently replaced 100mbps wifi router with this 2nd hand ac68u.

I know ac68u has a soc. Its more advanced and like a mini pc. When there is no traffic going through it, it is still warm, why??

Im not in a cold climate, nor the ac68u is hot, but how do I prolong its life when its running 24/7?

As long as the router is on, regardless of traffic going through it, it will never cooldown to ambient temperatures. Electrical components heat up when active.

It is not supposed to be at room temperature, I wouldn't worry about it.

It's normal for it to be warm. So long as it's not super hot (130F or above) then it's fine.

Think of the router with a passive cooler.

If the router has USB, buy a laptop cooler and it will stay nice and cool.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
