Rx Vega has begun to get optimized. it beats the 1080ti in Forza 7 at 1440p and beats the 1080 by 20% in the new shadow of war game. Will this continue, or are these games special.

It will continue. The same thing happened to older GPUs like the Fury in the past.

Only 2 games. This doesn't prove anything, these games are probably better optimized for AMD GPUs. In most games, Vega 64 is slower/on par with a 1080.

2 new console heavy games*

 

There will be more optimization on console games by faaaaar as ps4/xbox are both using amd chips and will likely transfer well to the PC counterpart.

As @PCGuy_5960 mentioned, this doesnt prove anything, those 2 games are probably better optimised for AMD GPUs.

No?  None of the rts, nothing from valve, a whole bunch of indies, 95% of rogue likes and a ton of others will never make it to console.

On very specific settings should be noted as well, it seems it only took the lead on 1080p using 8x msaa go down 4x msaa the 1080ti is faster again.

In other words, Vega 64 is on par with the 1080 Ti using cherry picked benchmarks. I could do the same:

Vega 64 is slower than a 1070

Meh AMD sucks, Liquid Cooled RX VEGA 64 can't keep up with a Founders Edition GTX 1070

AMD Cards have a tendency to get alot better as new drivers are released and new games come out.

1-2 year down the line alot of us would have new cards again and whatever driver improvement becomes pointless.

I prefer to buy a GPU that'll let me play games for the next couple of years and still get decent performance, than to have to buy a new NVIDIA GPU every year or two.

I don't see the 1080ti being obsolete in 2 years. I just don't my advice to anyone is.... It's your money and what you put intrinsic value to is up to you. If you want a vega get a vega if you want a 1080ti get one. Honestly if you don't put up the FPS ticker on your games you probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference anyways during game play.

It won't be completely obsolete, but look at 980 or 980ti, they are nowhere near 1080/1080ti performance.

Yeah, but the 980's still play every title... If your only looking for Horse Power and numbers to post from FPS then cool that's what you value....
