Charging - Quick AC adapter question

Yoppityderp

Quick question, when charging an s8 with a wireless pad (in this instance) would something like this

https://www.amazon.com/iClever-BoostCube-Qualcomm-Certified-Compatible/dp/B019GQ6S2C/ref=sr_1_5?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1507600183&sr=1-5&keywords=QC+2.0+adapter

Charge any faster than the OEM Fast charger you get with your phone.

Sorry for the dumb question, thank you.

According to gsmarena, samsung s8 supports only quick charge 2 - which means when connected to the charger using a USB cable, the phone can tell the charger to boost the voltage from the default 5v to 9v or 12v and take up to 2A (and a maximum of 18w) from the charger.

So even though that charger supposedly can provide up to 24 watts, the phone shouldn't take more than 18 watts.

See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quick_Charge

Wireless charging will be much slower and has nothing to do with the power of the charger. How much power goes into the phone through the air depends on the area of the charge pad and how well positioned the phone is on the pad, and how close to the pad the phone is.

My guess is the phone will get between 5 and 10 watts through air.
