i am going to build a new pc in the upcomin 2 months.Should i go with i5 7500 or ryzen 5 1500x.I want this pc for playing AAA title games .Which one would be future proof for atleast a year or 2.and which graphics card should i choose if my total budget for the rig is 600$.My current pc is i3 4130,4gb ram and hd 6570.I want to play almost all current and upcoming games after my upgrade

An i5 is probably going to be better if you're just going to be gaming. If you want to do any amount of streaming or multitasking then you can go for the ryzen.

To be entirely honest, "Future proofing" is  really just a myth. You can't fully prepare for the future, as you never really know what you might want to do with your pc in a couple years. But currently, the single core performance of intel chips are generally better for gaming.

Locked i5 make no sense now when Ryzen is around, get the Ryzen + B350 motherboard.

AM4 platform is just on the begining of its life cycle and we already know that AMD is going to support multiple generations of CPUs on the AM4.

Intel is already making B/H/Z270 obsolete.

I would personally go for the Ryzen CPU, the extra threads already help in quite a few of the newer games and the amount of games it will be useful in will surely only rise.

For a budget like that I would probably go for an RX 560 or GTX 1050, or maybe you can look at the used market. Not sure how the market is at the moment, but in the past you were able to get R9 280 cards for the price of the aforementioned video cards.

Otherwise 8GB of memory is Nice (some faster memory is preferred on Ryzen) and getting a good SSD would be great. Combining this with maybe your current HDD (with a format of course) is also an option.

No, Ryzen 1400 or 1500X performs better than i5 7400 or 7500. Not to mention that you can go and OC it to get even more performance (also supports way faster RAM).

Ryzen 1400 and 1500X are sitting closer to locked i7 performance.

They're both quality choices imo, i5 with faster single core performance, while ryzen gives you more threads at slightly slower speeds.

edit: but if you want something that just works, and would work for quite a while, ryzen can fit you well.

I would recommend going with the ryzen CPU, has SMT enabled which means more threads which will benefit in newer games and it is also an unlocked processor which means overclocking is supported. The AM4 platform provides more upgradability, if you want to upgrade the i5 in the future, you would have to spend extra on a Z170/Z270 motherboard which supports this function.

Both the R5 1400/1500X CPUs will perform better than the i5 and not to mention, overclocking is supported on these CPUs which means more performance. Ryzen also supports faster ram in which it benefits from.

Why don’t you save the money and upgrade your current pc to a 4690k or 4790k and then spend the rest on a gpu.

instead of having to get a new mb, new ram. Clock for clock intel’s IPC gains have been none existent so a long as you can OCs to a decent level 4.8ish you can get similar performance to a Kaby lake

p.s

maybe a little bit more ram 8gb is a decent low level, 16gb will sort you out for a long time
