im new into CAD designing, mostly Metalwork stuff. now i got Intellicad (Autocad Clone basically), just wondering what people here use CAD and looking for people to talk to About CAD and learn more about the program and what people are doing. not here to steal idea's from people, but happy to talk to people and bounce idea's. would like to see a community CAD chat put in here as well, not sure how many people here use CAD im happy to talk to anyone starting and or experienced users about CAD related stuff. learn some new tricks.

Using Autodesk at the moment. Mostly use it for interior design, wood and metalwork, and little ideas like a smartwatch stand or bed frame.

any help would or friendly face who is up for talking some shop would be much obliged (CAD is as close to my old work as i can get now :(, busted a disc in my back and its gone arthritic. no more tradie life for me :( . but hey its life). i really am enjoying learning the program, only doing 2D stuff atm. if i can learn more about the program i have a opportunity to go into the CAD field which is great for me as i have the metalwork background and tech skills

I have a spare bed in my home office. I'd like to find a way to lift it against the wall for when it isn't being used.

ooooow interesting, so what you are thinking about is like a murphy bed ... you going width or length collapse on it ?

I was only going to do length, but I didn't even consider doing it width-wise...

length wise is the typical Murphy bed. thou murphys are normally sunk into the wall to make them flush with the wall. you could do it sideways. be slightly different. also less likely to be kissed in the forehead by a falling bed if something goes astray.. you might get a bruised toe. but thats better than a concussion and wetting your pants

Interesting. I'll definitely amend my plans for this. Might have to create my own metal locking-brackets either way.

shouldn't be too hard, you could still use a similar system to the length ways, but your torque requirements to hold the bed in width ways will be less than upright, also locking mechs shouldn't be too hard really. i mean the drawing might take abit but its defaintly doable. but also dont reinvent the wheel unless you have to ;)

thats a bit more beyond my skill levels atm, only done about 24hrs of study and work on CAD so far. all i have atm is this and 4 other drawings. for the time being i need to learn the 2d side as thats what my potential employer wants, but i want to learn to do that kinda stuff, that looks pretty intense!

It's actually my Former high schools robotics class, its where I fist learned to really put my classes from middle school and high school to use. Now I just mentor the class, hence technically I drew almost none of that robot. (It was done in six weeks, not the model, the whole robot. From Release of the game, to the robot being packed in a crate)

yeah those off brand CAD programs can be kind of hard to find stuff for.

i have a playlist of stuff that i need to remember occasionally not much and its for solid-works but it could help.

also auto cad has a free for students edition that has quite a bit of stuff in it.
