Which says it is "said to be released on the 5th" but I expected at least some information about the release via intel a couple days for release. So I asked other people :)

Fair enough. Haven't bought a pc since 2012(i5-2500k) so I didn't exactly know about that. Thanks though! Hopefully should be able to get one on the day!

I'm guessing you dont live in america. Enjoy your VAT, peasant

Lowering the price of a product by 11% isn't a price drop, the $40 difference is barely enough to order a pizza with. No one who was thinking of buying a 7700K is suddenly going to rush out and buy one because of it, and anyone who does is clearly a moron as it'll be an irrelevant product in two days time.

I agree with you 100%.  Price rarely have a large influence on my purchasing decisions.  However, I think you are seriously underestimating how many broke ass people are on this forum.

That's $40 I could put towards RAM or PSU, HDD, ect. Just because the a newer product comes out doesn't mean I need it suddenly to be able to run everything I enjoy. The i7-7700k is not going to become irrelevant for some time.

Wow i7-8700k is looking as much as $380 and then you also gotta get a MB for it. i7-7700k defiantly not irrelevant. Its like looking at an R7 1700 and saying the R7 1600 is irrelevant.

I need to get a new motherboard no matter what I upgrade to anyway so it doesn't really matter for me.

Did you all notice that the Max # of PCI Express Lanes  is 16.  Does that upset any of you?  Does that make anyone not want to buy it?  Tell me what you think Please...

My question about that is.

So i plan on getting the MSI mAtx board (MSI Z370M Gaming Pro AC Motherboard) which has two pcie x16 (physical) slots and one usable pcie x1 after gpu install. If i use a gpu in the top slot and add two expansion cards that probably run x1 (audio and usb add-on), will that drop the gpu to x8?

It would have to.

This is a major miss on Intel's part.

This would be a show stopper for me for sure.

Why?  What GPU are you going to use that 8x will not be enough for?  Also, wouldn't you be able to use 16x for the GPU and the chipset lanes for the other two 1x expansion cards?

Don't just think from a GPU perspective.

For me, I am big on expansion cards.

As is, I am using 4 lanes for my M.2 drive along with 1 lane for my HD60 Pro.

My current graphics card probably doesn't even come close to saturating 8 lanes, but that may change when I eventually upgrade.

I am also big on peripherals on the I/O, which I know Ryzen reserves 4 lanes for.

it all adds up, so when you think of longevity and a platform you may want to be on, that could impact the decision for sure.
