finally a console that can actually outperform a similarly priced gaming PC at launch, that hasn't happened in a while, especially once you factor in the cost of the UHD 4k Bluray drive, that said, my gaming PC is still WAY BETTER and I've got my One S for my 4k UHD disc movies so I won't be getting one.

It's a closer run thing if your attitude is "4K-Bluray is like the HDMI passthru on the xbone, or HD-DVD on the 360!"  It's not something I think a lot of people want or will use, and adds to the overall BOM. If you tried to add those features to a compatible "console killer" your PC price is going to skyrocket, and your gaming ability is going to do nothing for it...

Can I get one without a coaster-drive, without HDMI in, and with a wedge more off the retail please? :)

see I take a completely different approach to consoles, to me it's about the other things it can do, I bought my PS2 because it was the cheapest DVD player available at the time, then I bought my PS3 because it was the cheapest (and best supported during the early firmware updates) Bluray Player at the time and my One S is the cheapest 4k UHD Disc player, it's foolish to buy a console purely on gaming performance and the One S has the 4k drive at a lower price then the PS4 which lacks it so it's not like the 4k UHD drive is that super expensive cost over the normal bluray drive found in a PS4 or PS3.

but even if you kick the drive out you are still looking around $300 bucks on the video card at normal non-mining inflated GPU pricing to get a Polaris card with roughly that level of Teraflops of performance and even then you only have 8GB of Vram instead of 12GB and by the time you buy a case, PSU, Motherboard, RAM, Hard drive and CPU you will still be well over the pricepoint, a CHEAP PSU (like 30-40 bucks kinda cheap) and even other seriously budget parts are gonna run you 300 bucks before you even add an operating system or the GPU, so as far as consoles go this is actually a pretty decent price to performance.

that said Gaming PC's are still the smarter investment as they actually have upgrade paths and games can be gotten cheaper and there is no backward compatibility or shit like that to worry about so you don't have to re-buy the same game when you upgrade and all those types of things that make PC gaming far cheaper in the long run, I was just saying for someone that just wants to game, thats actually a pretty good deal.

That's shared with system memory, I think.... but your points are still valid :)

I don't remember the last time I clicked a video in such a hurry, and I don't xbox.

Anyone who tells you that you can't do something is unimaginative and probably a coward.

That was pretty cool. I should maybe one day try out an xbox. I was always a playstation guy. There are 2 console games that make the console vs pc argument void in my eyes forever....... Metal Gear Solid (the original one) and Final Fantasy 7 (8 was pretty awesome as well).

@Slick nowadays is like the favorite uncle you only see during Christmas because he now lives far but when he comes, he gives the best gifts like an Xbox assembling video.

Just as an aside to Daniel's Comment. I work at a major videogame retail chain. A great many of my customers look at the multimedia aspects of consoles. The 4k UHD disk player, HDR, and media streaming. In addition to the larger storage drive, slightly better CPU/GPU, and the promise of 'enhanced graphics' over the previous XBone/S. Has gotten me many pre-orders for the unit.

In the markets of PC capabilities it will never come close. In the markets for accessible 'plug n play' gaming/multimedia it's rather competitive even at it's $500USD price tag.

This would be a great console, if it actually had good exclusives.

Thing is it doesn't. To those who want a console get the regular PS4 Slim.

The PS4 Pro while it's superior to the regular one, in games performs the same and it looks almost identical. The difference between the two is so small that it's not worth the extra cash for the pro version.

Maybe later on some games will fully take advantage of the extra power, but so far that's not the case.
