I'm trying to build a desk pc. I wanted to do something similar to what Linus did but I wanted to use hardline, despite this being my first custom watercooling loop.

I've been trying to fill up my loop and don't have my reservoir at the highest point or my pump at the very lowest. My order goes res #1 - pump - 360 rad - 360 rad - res #2 - cpu - gpu - back to res #1. When I turn on the pump, it moves water slightly and it stays there. When I turn it off, the water and air moves back to where it originally was. I made sure my pump never ran dry. Here is a picture of my loop:

What is the full list of parts that you have?

Assuming you dont have hardline try taking out the pump and running a small temporary loop.

Did you even read the OP?

He clearly mentions hardline and the picture of the loop confirms it.

Is the pump sucking water, as in you can see the air move? Main issue would be that second res. Loosing velocity with that and the routing.  Pump could easily push all that and those runs. Pump is running max correct?

The pump does appear to be sucking water. I see the pump spinning up but I have no way to ensure that it is spinning at 100% speed. I just have it plugged into the PSU with the molex connector. I was thinking of adding the pump after the second res to help get water to the second half of the loop. Would this help or be a waste?

Sounds like you have trapped air in the loop, try cracking open some ports one at a time to see if it gets things going or you may have to resort to tipping the desk to move it around.

Is it a pwm d5?

If I remember correctly, EK pwm d5s run at 40% when they're only connected via molex. Connect it to a pwm header and it should run at 100%.

I have tried tipping the desk as much as possible and haven't had that much success. I also do have an EK pwm D5. I'll make sure I try that when I get home. Do I need the 24 pin motherboard connector plugged in for it to work at 100%?

The new D5 from EKWB runs at full speed when ther eis no PWM signal present. Try cracking the ports on the second res and other components down the line to see if you can remove the trapped air.

Quote

PWM duty cycle: ~ 20-100%
- Default behavior: Runs at 100% duty cycle when no PWM feedback signal is present

I can't open any ports on my other res because it will leak if I do so. I may just drain it,  get a new pump, and maybe a T extension with a pressure valve. If I do that, I would place the pressure valve at the highest point of my loop. Do you think that will work?

You crack the ports to help move the air along don't open the ports fully, it will help to remove the trapped air in certain areas to move it along.

You could do another pump after but id try to ensure the pumps at 100%. I disconnect the fan header or boot into windows and turn it up. I prefer to just boot as nothing will happen in that time. I don't have flow issues though. Normally when I see this done, they either add a vertical res temporarily or a really long tube. I suggest doing that to the second res, tilt the system, add a 90 and a long tube. Then fill the system and run it. wont be an issue as the hose should act as a res and not flow that direction. Just be ready incase it does.

If the pump isn't running full, its just trapped air, so once its at max, this may resolve itself.

Thanks to everyone who replied. You all helped so much and I really appreciate it.

I had to go into the bios and adjust pump speed to 100%. I don't know why it wouldn't automatically go to 100% when just plugging in the molex connector but thank you all again.

Good shit. Now add some color to the loop and get us some pics posted in the water cooling gallery.
