Got my new phone, Problems arrise when this happens

So everytime I get a new phone, a problem shows itself right in my face the second I walk out the door, but since this time I was confident enough to just drive away without checking, I can't recivce texts, now I did a trade in with my moms old phone (Mine was "Deactivated") anyways so Everything was fine (So I thought) I called her, Checked the service fine, didn't check ths Messaging, but I figured it was fine, now I'm trying to text my friends doesn't work text my mom doesn't work, it sends but I don't get any reply, anyways I've tryed everything, turned off my old phone (Yes all my contacts and everything are there) it still won't get any texts anyways, I've just given up and then though about LTT fourms and thought I'd give it a try if not I'll go back whenever I feel like it.

does she have an iphone as well? i had one but changed to android, after that my iphone using friends would have to specify messages be sent as SMS instead of imessage.. it might be the same issue?

Have you tried to perform a sudden temporary interrupt of the electricity flow to your computational device followed by a re-initialization procedure of the central processing unit and associated components?

Oh, I haven't even though of that yea. Let me ask her to disable SMS.
