Performance or quiet mode?

What should i set my h100iv2 for the pump quiet or performance? When i game too should i set it to performance? or leave performance on all the time?

I personally would go with the temperatures... if quiet is keeping you system cool enough, why go to performance?

 

If quiet isn't keeping the system cool enough, switch to performance.

Depends on the temps. If you want it to stay cool then go for performance, if not, quiet.

Depends on the temperatures, if they are high, performance mode will ramp the fans speed up. If temperatures are low, quite mode would be best optimised and fan speeds would be lower, reducing the sound of the fans.

I've found that the main source of noise on an H100i is the fans by a long shot.

I could never really hear the pump myself.

 

At one point, I switched over to using SpeedFan to control the radiator fans directly off the motherboard and left the pump doing its thing under performance mode.

I could control the noise/cooling ratio much better with SpeedFan.

 

Then I went with a full custom loop and that's the end of my experiments with the H100i.

It now lives in my wife's Hackintosh cooling a modest, non-K series i5.

It's running on whatever default profile it has when it doesn't have Corsair LINK.

Usually the difference between the two pump modes makes almost no difference in temperature. I keep both of mine at quiet. However the stock fan curves for the Corsair AIOs are pretty bad so you should make a custom fan curve for it.

Having issues with a Corsair AIO? Possible fix here:

Are you getting weird fan behavior, speed fluctuations, and/or other issues with Link?

Are you running AIDA64, HWinfo, CAM, or HWmonitor? (ASUS suite & other monitoring software often have the same issue.)

Corsair Link has problems with some monitoring software so you may have to change some settings to get them to work smoothly.

-For AIDA64: First make sure you have the newest update installed, then, go to Preferences>Stability and make sure the "Corsair Link sensor support" box is checked and make sure the "Asetek LC sensor support" box is UNchecked.

-For HWinfo: manually disable all monitoring of the AIO sensors/components.

-For others: Disable any monitoring of Corsair AIO sensors.

That should fix the fan issue for some Corsair AIOs (H80i GT/v2, H110i GTX/H115i, H100i GTX and others made by Asetek). The problem is bad coding in Link that fights for AIO control with other programs. You can test if this worked by setting the fan speed in Link to 100%, if it doesn't fluctuate you are set and can change the curve to whatever. If that doesn't work or you're still having other issues then you probably still have a monitoring software interfering with the AIO/Link communications, find what it is and disable it.
