I am looking for a small portable laptop for school. I don't want to spend more than $100 and I want it to be running Windows. Im using it for notes and programming hence why I want Windows. I also want it to be a 2-1 with a detachable keyboard. I've seen a couple things so far. The RCA cambio or something like that is under $100 and meets those criteria and I have also found a couple Microsoft nextbooks for less than $100. What laptop should I get? Thank you!

Ummm not possible new unless it really really really second hand.

Chromebooks are the only device that fit your budget but it won't able to run windows.

Maybe 300-400? Save up more money?

I mean, do you really want that to be your devices for next 3-5 years?

Trust me it won't last through your whole school term/period.

Are you in Middle or High School or Uni?

I mean 32GB of storage???? They are not meant to use as school use, unless it comes with penalty of cloud storage even than i presume physical storage.

Any Windows device that $300 or less is going to be the biggest piece of shit ever created by man. Windows dont run well on low end hardware. Hence why Chromebooks are popular in that price range. Honestly dont expect any machine in your price range to last. Most $500 laptops I have owned only lasted maybe 3 or 4 years. I cant imagine a $100 laptop lasting that long.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

I used the work at Sams club, and we had the transformer book. Never used it myself but it might be okish. I mean ASUS is at least name brand. Im not sure if it will be good for programming and such. You need to check system requirements of what ever software you are using. Then also invest in a decent external hard disk, because many of these machines have very little storage. Windows 10 needs like 16-20 Gigs if I remember and extra for updates and such.

Right now I'm using a laptop from the late 90's to 2000's everything I use is supported on everything pretty much.

I'm going to look at some reviews for laptops and I shall report back with my findings

Well, ASUS, DELL, HP and Lenovo all to see have machines with those similar specs. I know Lenovo consumer products can be so so at times, but their business line is suppose to be pretty good. Asus might be good, but have horrible customer service from what I have read. Not sure what HP has been doing the last couple of years. Dell I guess has redeemed themselves the last few years as Ive been seeing good things about them. Personally, As long as you stay name brand I think you will get a product you want. Not sure what the life span on one of these machines will be, but lets just hope it last until you finish school.

Because from one College student to another, I feel your pain. Im about $60,000 in debt from my bachelors degree. So my advice is to save as much as possible.

Ok I know you said everything under $100 is crap but the reviews of the RCA cambio laptop seem pretty good. Also if it does turn out to be crap I can return it for free with jet.com  https://jet.com/product/RCA-Cambio-101-2-in-1-Tablet-32GB-Intel-Atom-Z3735F-Quad-Core-Processor-Windows-/a167eb55d30747e9930f86f4ddbb82da

I'm still in high school but all the money I make as a freelancer goes into my college account. I'm hoping it's enough.
