$1500 dollar gaming PC

I am building a gaming PC for my friend and need the best build for gaming at $1500 dollars. This is what I have cooked up so far but I feel like this is overkill GPU wise since he is going to be playing on a 1080p 144hz monitor. Thoughts? I feel like I should get him a 1070 instead of 1080ti and invest the money on a better ssd, psu, cpu, or mobo. idk honestly you guys let me know

for 144Hz, a 7700K is better.

Ryzen is god up to like 120FPS, but it has trouble producing more than that.

I'd go with a GTX 1080 + 7700K.

I'll come back with a PCPP list in a few mins.

Alright thanks, link me the PCPP and ill take a look. Our main game is R6S which is more CPU intensive anyway. This was another build I made that was more well rounded

- Good build, but OP probably wants the Enthoo Pro TG that he originally had

- Also, you really don't need fast RAM. Ryzen has corrupted us all, but remember that RAM speed still doesn't matter on intel platforms

- Might be worth it to spend like $3 more for a SL308 Tier 1 SSD

other than that it's good.

I feel like anything over a 1070 is excessive at 1080p. If you go for a 1070 and a 144hz 1440p monitor the Ryzen CPU would make a little more sense, but at 1080p the Ryzen doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Your second point is wrong. Fast memory has always made a difference, it's just more pronounced with Ryzen systems.

I'm just going to copy and paste this:

Wait, judging from this thread, do people seriously think that faster RAM makes little to no difference at all despite the overwhelming amount of evidence online? Yeesh.

The bottom line is this; the biggest benefit of faster memory is higher minimum framerates. However, if you're in a CPU-bound scenario/game where the CPU is essentially the bottleneck, you will see that faster memory boosts the average framerate.

Yes, that's fine as well. I would rather have the CRYROIG H7 than the 212 EVO though. The PSU does seem to be slightly overpriced...

Firstoff, you can quote multiple people, so no need to paste the same thing in twice.

secondly, why a Z270 motherboard with a locked CPU. such a waste.

Yes, that's fine as well. I would rather have the CRYROIG H7 than the 212 EVO though. The PSU does seem to be slightly overpriced...

Hm...

Seems like faster RAM does make a difference, I stand corrected.

However, only when the CPU is really stressed out.

When you're playing at 1080p 144Hz and have a powerful GPU so you can attain that 100+ framerate, chances are that you will run into numerous situations where you're going to be CPU-bound.

Besides, a kit of 3200MHz TridentZs doesn't cost that much more, with the entire build taken into account.

Because the Z-series chipset is the only chipset that has XMP so you can take advantage of fast memory...

Yep, that's fine. But the GTX 1070 seems very overpriced... I'd rather get a GTX 1080 for a bit more.

Sort of defeats the purpose of having a $1500 budget, doesn't it? You've gone and picked some expensive components.

The build I suggested performs better and is about $200-ish less expensive.
