an alternative method would be to create a larger custom resolution

but i only know thats possible through nvidia control panel

ex. create resolution of 1600*900 or 1920*1080

note: its going to look pretty bad on your screen

For what?

For browser for example? Use CTRL+mouse whell.

For programs? Use their preferences and set smaller fonts.

For system you can use some 3rd party programs to set smaller fonts too. And you can decrease space between icons.

Just prepare everything, configure programs so you'll see more. Your screen will not support higher resolution anyway. At least not without big quality degradation.
