Are Fallout 4 and The Witcher 3 similar?

I like shooters.

 

I find RPGs the worse genre in the world.

 

However, I enjoyed Fallout 4.

 

I've heard many fans of the Fallout series up until Fallout 4 disliked that Fallout 4 'turned into a shooter'. Maybe this is why I liked it.

 

If I enjoyed Fallout 4 for its shooter elements, will I enjoy The Witcher 3? (I'm aware there are no guns) Or Is it more of an RPG than Fallout 4 is?

No. Witcher 3's fighting elements are completely different. I find it hard to play because of the confusing and annoying controls (the same reason why I sucked and hated Assassin's Creed games).

The Witcher 3 is a much purer RPG than Fallout 4, and more story driven. Its pace is slower, but I felt at least, that the world is more complete than Fallout 4's. More interesting characters, and infinitely more interesting quests. So while it's a very different beast than Fallout 4, I think you should give the Witcher a go, as it's a game that can really grasp your attention, and steal all your time, if you let it.

Enjoying fallout 4 for it's shooting elements is like saying you like marmite because it vaguely sounds like thermite.

Fallout 4 isn't even a shooter to begin with. It's an RPG with shooter elements.

 

Witcher 3 is nothing like Fallout (be it 4 or an older installment). If anything, it's more like The Elder Scrolls.

The witcher 3 is basically a story that you play is the best way to describe it. It gives that choose your own adventure type of feel as well.

Witcher 3's combat is fairly similar to the Arkham series and Shadow of Mordor with a RPG twist involving a leveling system and a gear system. Most enemies you'll struggle to beat if they're a few levels higher than you and you don't have the right gear. Aside from that, it's a fairly open world with a good amount of side content. One major difference between Witcher and Fallout is that Witcher has a much greater emphasis on the main story, and has a stronger sense of character and world building

 

Witcher 3's stories, both the main story and side stories, have multiple outcomes. Some of those outcomes are LEGIT "Oh shit!" moments. It really has a lot of reply value, and there's a ton of content to play through.

They are both of my favorite games, and they are VERY different.

You may not like tw3, because it is very story driven, and the action is kinda secondary. But still, the game is SO FUCKING GOOD that I believe anyone can like it.
