Samsung Note 4. Battery doesn't charge to 100%, and phone turns off at 25% to 10%.

Hiho,

 

I recently started encountering problems with the phone, and I'm not sure what the problem is. Does anyone know why the phone stopped recharging the battery to 100% (it's a new battery, old battery charges to 100%, but drains faster and restarts the phone randomly), and the phone just shuts down at 25% or below, usually around 10%.

 

Would appreciate any help!

I bought it off Amazon, and it claims it's original. It looks original too, it's just sold by other company. Old battery was replaced by Samsung themselves and the old battery has the same problems, but it charges to 100% and discharges quicker than the new one.

Don't think so because BOTH batteries have the same problem, and phone randomly shuts off sometimes.

could be the OS if your sure the battery's genuine and not defective, have you tried a clean install of android?

It's pretty hard to see difference between a real and fake battery these days. But maybe there's another issue going on somewhere inside your phone.

The battery is just bad. I had an official Samsung battery and it did the same thing. Its just because of the heat from your phone ruining the battery, or maybe in shipping the battery was exposed to heat.

You could try this as well, and Samsung's software does make it very easy to recover everything when clean installing. You just need to make sure everything is backed up to Samsung.

My verizon note 4 has done the same thing for about a year.  it usually shuts off at around 15-20% battery left, and will just boot loop until the battery dies.  If I pull the battery when it does it to stop the boot loop it will show a dead battery and not turn on, but as soon as I put it back on the charger it shows around 20% again.  I think its a software issue, because it literally started the day of an update.  The update was just supposed to be security, but who actually knows what samsung or verizon puts in the updates.

Yeah, it could be that I believe.

I factory reset the phone billion times, and it didn't help. I even rooted it and that didn't help either. I flashed back to stock and it's still the same.

I'm not sure if the new battery is the problem, it could be the phone but then again I'd rather as forum to see what other people think.

It did start after I upgraded the Android, but there's no way I can get older version flashed back.

theres always away my friend! but honestly i think youve got a bad battery as the other guys have said, your old battery as all old battery will be knackered and your new one sounds bad too, return it and get a replacement

I would say that you are a conspiracy theorist, but I would not put it past Samsung and the service providers to put sneak that into an update, especially on an "older" device. Not that the Note 4 is older, but in their opinion, you haven't bought a new phone recently enough. #greed.

My girlfriend is still using my old note 4 and it's working almost like it did back when I bought it (touchwiz has taken its toll on it), I don't actually think they would bother risking something like that after the note 7 fiasco. It was probably just bad luck for OP
