Hello there, I am currently mentally preparing my custom loop inside my Mercury S8 from Caselabs and I was wondering if what I came up with is the optimal order. I basically have one loop for the GPU and another one for the CPU.

The GPU loop goes like this: Pump / GPU / 360x60mm rad / Reservoir.

The CPU loop goes like this: Pump--res combo / CPU / 240x60mm rad / 360x60mm rad.

I was wondering if its better to put the pump before or after the rad, or in the case of the cpu loop, in-between the 2 rads because both the GPU and the CPU will produce a lot of heat (trying 7900x at 5ghz and the GPU is the galax 1080ti).

Sorry for the crappy paint, didnt have time to autocad it:

Loop order does not matter.  Only one thing to keep in mind, res before pump, and you will be good.

As long as the liquid can passively flow from the reservoir into the pump, the rest of the loop order doesn't matter in terms of performance. Plan your tubing runs and loop order based on what looks good or is easiest.

EDIT: It's a common minunderstanding to think that component > rad > components > rad is the best order as the liquid would get cooled down between each component. This could hold true if the liquid was flowing very slowly, but in watercooling loops, the liquid is going to be moving so quickly that it won't make a difference from having all radiators in a row. It's generally best to think of the loop as one unit rather than individual components being cooled. The entire loop temperature goes up and down as a whole rather than it heating up and cooling down at different parts of the loop.
