Is NCIX a reliable company for building PCs?

Infragalaxia

I've heard mixed things. What is their track-record for making custom computers?

What area do you live in to be using NCIX?

Check out Canada Computers. They're much more reliable. NCIX has a bad track record of back ordering components because they don't have them readily available. At least when you go to Canada Computers, what you see in store is what they'll build with, unless they don't have stock and order it. They'll do a much better job in my honest opinion.

Over the years it's been up and down for me; all depends on the size of the order I make, and how much stock is showing when I use the stock checking tool. Obviously nothing is perfectly accurate, but I've found as long as there's 5-10 or more showing in stock, my orders are usually fine.

That being said, I have helped a few friends order new computers and a couple of those orders were held up because certain parts (looking at you Samsung PCIe NVMe SSD's) were backordered at the manufacturer level, beyond NCIX's control even. In those cases, once my friends got in touch with a Sales / Order Manager at NCIX, they were upgraded to 256GB SSD's from 128GB SSD's for free because their orders were so delayed, so I guess there's something to say for that. :)

Regardless, I'll always be loyal to NCIX while price matching where I can because I still enjoy buying from them over Newegg or the competition out here on the west coast.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I was concerned about the competence of building a computer and then subsequently shipping a fully built unit in the mail. The whole idea makes me uneasy. Is their packaging really that good?

In a word, yes. While it may take longer than one wishes the result is generally very good. They have a lot of experience shipping assembled systems.

When placing an order one has the option to insure the shipment as well as select the shipper (all major couriers as well as po). If memory serves, one should budget 3% - 5% for shipping and insurance.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
