Good idea to upgrade? Gtx 1050ti or 1060?

DailyRoutine

So, my birthday's coming up this weekend, and I'm looking at about roughly $350ish from it and I want to upgrade my rig a bit. I've already ordered a new case (Thermaltake core p3 snow) so there's about $100 off that. Next I'm wanting to get a new GPU. I'm looking at a GTX 1050ti at the moment for $169.99 on Newegg. But, would it be worth paying the extra for a GTX 1060? I can scrape up a few extra dollars to get one, but is it worth it? I am currently running:

CPU: AMD FX-8300 3.5ghz

MoBo: MSI 970AG43

GPU: GTX 750ti SC 2gb

Ram: 8gb ddr3

PSU: 450w

And from what I've seen, if I get either of these cards I'm going to need somewhere around a 550w PSU to have some breathing room. And I know, I could use more ram. If I get the 1050ti, the rest is going towards ram. So what do you guys think? I'd really like some advice here or even if anyone has any better suggestions as what to upgrade.

Thanks!

Dalton.

And P.s., I'm really looking for a white GPU. To match the nice case, of course.

Just wanted to add something about the GPU's I'm looking at.

You really should have upgraded your CPU, yeah both your GPU and CPU both need it but you CPU is going to be a huge bottleneck on a 1060 and probably even a 1050ti. With what you do have I would say go with the 1050ti and maybe save that extra money and just wait until you can afford the CPU upgrade to like a Ryzen 5 or something. adding more RAM to your current system isn't really going to help anything in it unless you're using all of your current ram and crashing your system out because of it.

I think that you should first upgrade your CPU before the GPU because the CPU would be a bottleneck in most games and I think your better off going with a ryzen CPU (ryzen 5 1600 for example). The 1060 would be a better choice when it comes to gaming performance, but the convenient thing about the 1050ti is that it doesn't require an external power connector, instead, it draws power directly from the motherboard. I would pair a ryzen 5 1600 with a gtx 1060 6GB and a 550W PSU. Your current 8GB or memory is fine for gaming.

Also, if your looking for a white GPU you could get a custom skin from D-brand or something.

What is the model of PSU?

In your position I would upgrade to a used 1050ti first, then get Ryzen CPU. If you dont want used stuff then I'd go for Ryzen first.

That's a good idea. I'll get this 1050ti and say around Christmas or so get a new Mobo, cpu, and ram. What power supply should I get for it?

Of mine? Or the one I'm looking at? And that's a down side, I can't find any 1050tis in my area. The only GPU's I can find are the 660 or 560 variety. I did find one gtx 1060, but they wanted $450 for it so going new is cheaper. I bought my gtx 750ti for $80 off Craigslist so I'm not above buying used at all. I prefer it honestly. But I just can't find a good card near by.
