Okay, here it is.  Upgraded my case, motherboard, cpu, etc....  Now I am down to cpu cooling and trying to figure out whether or not switching to an AIO is worth the effort and cost.  Here is some information that may help.

Mobo = Asus TUF Sabertooth FX990 3.0

CPU  = AMD FX8370

Case = CoolerMaster Mastercase Maker 5t

Ram  = Corsair Vengeance 2133MHz.

OS    = Windows 10 Home (All updates present and accounted for.)

Currently running machine at 4.2GHz. but would like an attempt at overclocking.  My goal at OC is to reach 4.5GHz. without smoking anything.  I have some off brand fan cpu cooler but I know that it won't/can't handle an OC because when I attempt an OC, the cpu heats up and shuts down.  I know that overheating is the cause because I have the side of the case open and when the machine shuts itself off, I can touch the fins of the cooler and they are very hot to the touch.  Even if I wasn't trying to OC, I know that I need to replace the cpu cooler with something better.  My current cpu and mobo temps are fine,

cpu temps - 37c min - 42c max

mobo temps - 27c

Considering those temps are fine, that's nice, but the only thing I'm doing right now is reading LTT forum and posting this note.  I only play one game and that is World of Warcraft, other than that, the hardest thing is watching LTT and YT videos along with reading the news.

Two weeks ago from NewEgg I purchased a CoolerMaster Liquid Pro 280 because everything I read said that it was compatible.  HA!, Don't believe it.  I tried everything in the world to get it to fit but it just won't go.  The radiator has a place on it that obviously was used as a radiator fill point and it is that thing that prevents the installation of the radiator.  I talked to the folks at both CoolerMaster and NewEgg and they told me to RMA the thing so that's good too.

Now the dilemma, what do I replace my inadequate cpu fan cooler with?  I would like to continue to try and do a water cooler, but I don't think I want to attempt a fight with trying to get the thing installed.  Anyone out there have this case, cpu and mobo combination?  Would love to read how you overcame this situation.  Many thanks to all who read this and a special thanks-in-advance to any/and/or/all that respond.

according to your case http://www.coolermaster.com/case/mid-tower/mastercase-maker-5t/ it says you can fit at top

240mm / 280mm (max. 297mm radiator length)

 how it didn't fit though?

In general if you don't care about aesthetics (or have non-windowed case) Noctua NH-D15 is best thing to go with. It's just perfect amount of cooling and silence for quite a small buck. If you're into aesthetics be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3 might be for you.

Both of the coolers are outperforming majority of AIO's and especially in noise department. (1-2°C in favor for AIO)

Obviously you did not read my original post.  And not all of us are born with pockets full of money either.  I was able to get what I could afford.  Not everyone can just drop what they have and afford to go out and buy a complete new Ryzen or I9 system.  I got the case first back in February, the cpu in May and the mobo in August.  The rest of the parts in my system I already had from my previous system.

Let me see, how can I explain that it didn't fit.  IT DID NOT FIT.  I have been building computers for over 40 years considering the 20 years I maintained computers for the Air Force and the 22+ years since my retirement.  This is the first and only system that I have had problems with parts that did not fit.  I think I can tell the difference between when something fits and something does not fit.  I think I made reference to the reason it did not fit in my original post.  It was because of what I believe to be the radiator fill point on the radiator.  I turned that thing six ways to Sunday trying to get it to fit.  On top, in the front, upside down, inside out, you name it, I tried it.

No i understand what you're saying it's just too weird for me. Because usually the specs are correct and accurate on the cases website

Thank you so much for the reply.  I'm not worried about looks even though the case has tempered glass sides.  I like both of your recommendations so I will go with one of them, just have to go thru the specs to see which one to go with. Once again, thank you very much.

Now you have my curiosity flowing full force.  Just one question for you.  Do you have an Asus TUF Sabertooth FX990 3.0 motherboard mounted inside a CoolerMaster Mastercase Maker 5t case with an AMD FX8370 cpu and the Coolermaster Liquid Pro 280 AIO?  Because if you do and all is fine, then that is great.  But if you don't, well then, that is another story all together.  Remember, I talked to the folks at CoolerMaster and NewEgg about this problem.  I talked to CoolerMaster thru chat and I have a copy of that chat in my email inbox.

The tech rep at CoolerMaster acknowledged they have received complaints concerning this combination of parts.  He said they did not have a lot of them but said he believed the reason they did not have a lot of them was because not everyone goes for these parts specifically. After talking to CM, talked to NewEgg thru a chat window and have a copy of that chat also.  NewEgg tech rep told me that since CM had already acknowledged there could be a problem for consumers with this particular set of parts that he had no problem giving me an RMA number.

The box went back in the mail today, 8/28/17.

Many thanks to all that took the time to read about my situation and a special thanks to those that took the time to respond with a helpful answer.

Not sure why people give flake over a FX.  Got one on a TUF Sabertooth FX990 R2.0.  Hardy little chips that still do a decent job (run like smooth butter under Linux with BOINC running).

Hmmm, never dealt with that case.  I go with the recommendations on the air coolers.  I only seen a real good benefit with an AIO when smacking one on a GPU.  I do have one on my FX chip, but that was a left over one I had from my 1090T.
