AX860i!??!?!?!??!

I would imagine that the EVGA G2/G3 or Corsair RMx/RMi series would suit your needs very well. Yes, they don't quite match the quality nor have the privilege of being a "digital PSU" like the AX860i, but they're still very good units that also won't give your wallet a hard time.

If you are looking for a "cream of the crop" unit, then the Seasonic PRIME Titanium would probably be your best bet.

Also, why do you need 850W?

I'm planning on going sli in future so the 850w would probably help.

It's not really great considering how expensive it is. If you want the best of the best then get something like a Seasonic PRIME Platinum.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

you do know there are alternatives that are the same quality as the AX860i? i think you're better off with the EVGA G3.

Are you joking?  The two don't even compare.

AXi is built by a tier 1 (actual tier 1 as the term is used in the industry, not "tier 1" as used in the arbitrary "tier list") manufacturer (Flextronics), has digital Totem Pole PFC, is Platinum efficiency and has digital monitoring and control.  G3 has NONE of this.

G3 is good, but to see that the G3 is in any way better is complete horse shit.

But how does it compare to non-i version of AX860 in term of quality?

Totally separate platforms.  The AXi is a digital Flextronics server PSU in an ATX housing.  The AX is a re-badged Seasonic XP2.

So, an  AX is more along the lines of a P2 with all things equal (G3 being only Gold efficiency).

By the end of the day, a CoolerMaster Extreme II does exactly the same job as a Corsair AX860i, but that doesn't mean you should use a CoolerMaster Extreme II.

Even with performance and efficiency aside, you can't monitor fan speed, PSU temperatures, voltages, power consumption, control OCP and starting fan speed with an EVGA G3.

To reiterate Comic_Sans_MS's point:  At the end of the day, a kick scooter and a Tesla 3 do the same job.  They're modes of transportation.

Could you stop with this pls? I don't want to quote Gad Saad here as it probably gets me some timeout, but what you do here is just not nice.

If you lost the argument, accept it, but don't post something like this...

As @Comic_Sans_MS mentions, with that argument, it is totally irrelevant what you use, you can use a total garbage unit because it does the job.

Not well, it may die and kill the rest in the process, but it does the job...

Why bother at all with PSU if everyone on the market (seem to) do the same job?!

LOOOOOL seems ice started a war haha, I just like the aesthetics of the psu tbh. The dark power pro 11 850w was my first option however it is semi modular and I really want cable mod cables throughout. Not just extensions. As long as the psu is quiet has zero fan tech, full modularity and good aesthetics as well as clean efficient power idm the brand.

The AXi is bloody amazing; top notch, you will not find much (if any) better -  as Jon has already explained.

Looking up prices for the AXi, the AX860i costs $329AUD* or about £200, the much cheaper (and much lesser) AX860 costs $279AUD* or about £170, same with the DPP11 850W (or about £190 for the DPP11 850W or AX860 by just browsing the Amazon UK prices).

So maybe the AX860i isn't the right PSU if you are looking at PSUs in the same price range as the DPP11 850W.

My recommendations include the EVGA P2 850, Corsair AX860, Corsair HX850 (Grey Label, ignore the blue labelled models, they are old), Corsair HX850i, Seasonic PRIME Platinum 850W.

Out of that lot, I'd probably go with the HX850i because of it's hardware monitoring and control.

*The reason I looked up AUD prices was since you couldn't find the AX860i anywhere, so i need a place that I can make a reference point from.
