What rails does linus use?

Noobular
Go to solution Solved by Jarsky,

It doesn't matter what Linus uses. You're using different cabinets and different chassis.

There are a huge array of universal fit, fixed and sliding rail kits. As pointed out though you'll need to make sure your rails are adjustable to the depth of the cabinet you're mounting them into. Most rail kits are length adjustable.

For my 1U Norco chassis i have a Norco RL-26 rail kit.

Since you're looking to use a heavier 4U chassis, you might want to check out the Norco RL-20 rail kit. Theyre extendable up to 32" deep cages

I believe its been mentioned before in a video that they were Norco? i'm not sure... I'm personally going to be buying a Rosewill RSV-L4500 and since it doesn't come with rails im not entirely sure how to tell if rails will fit for this case or not and ... i'm just kinda assuming those will... and i'm curious Thanks!

Most rails can be used with any server chassis unless you're speaking of an OEM like Dell or HP. You need to check what length and threading your cabinet uses though..

Edit: This is from experience. @leadeater will know more.

The length of the rail depends on the depth of the cabinet, not the chassis. I'm using a 32" cabinet so a 26" wouldn't fit properly.

I was planning on making it 32" because i'd like the desk space to be 32" (its going to be implanted in the side of my desk)

Then you need to find some rails in a 32" depth (some, if not all, rails are adjustable for the depth) and you need to find what screws you'll need to fix the rail to the chassis amd which for the cabinet. You should have no trouble once you find those out.
