wait untill tomorow, Intel are anounceing new CPUs tomorrow

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

You would want a ryzen 3 1200, gtx 1050ti or a 1060, 250GB or more SSD, 1TB HDD a decent cooler and 8GB of Ram if you have a budget tell me. I will try and reply as fast ss possible since I am getting breakfast.

Would this CPU be better than an Intel one, and would 128GB SSD and 1TB HDD suffice?

Would that lower the price of current CPU's? I'm not looking for the top of the line processor, just one that can run games.

no but buying the new chips would be better value, you can get a quad core I3 for probably the same price as a dual core with hyper threading costs you now, a 6 core I5 for the same price as the I5 7600K and so on unless they screw up the pricing. this will not drop CPU prices a noticable amount but you can get more for your money

Is a CPU with 4 cores better with one that has 2 and has hyper threading? Ive been told that clock speed isn't everything and the cores are what matter.

Well 4 cores for cheap is pretty good. Also Intel is great in Single thread but AMD is better at multithread (What today's games use). "Better than an intel one" you need to specify. I think that the ryzen is better than a pentium g4560 I THINK since it has 4 real cores instead of 2 real cores and 2 "not so real" cores

Yes thats true. Higher cores better. The pentium g4560 is a great chip but dosent have 4 real cores.

4 cores will be better than 2 cores with HT given that they are the same architecture and run at the same clock speed. the quadcore should win in every way. what matters is IPS or Instructions Per Second which you get by takeing the Instructions Per Clock or IPC and multiplying with the frequency, like 1MHz or 5GHz or whatever makeing what matters not just the core count or frequency, but the total number of instructions can get through the CPU in a x amount of time.

Heres a great system

It has wifi too! Which remembers me that I need to get a wifi card too :P

Thanks! Is Ryzen the gaming line of AMD processors or can all AMD processors run games the same? Do you have to buy an extra CPU cooler since the CPU already comes with one?

So I should go for a quad core or higher as long as it matches my graphics card?

seeing as you will almost certainly be able to afford a quad core build if you just wait for Intel to launch Coffee Lake, yes.

Yes Ryzen right now are the best budget and powerful cpus for the money. No, not all amd cpus can run it. FX cpus were pretty bad and with their High TDP they had it wasn't great. Now AMD has gotten to the competition again with low tdp and high performance.

So ive been looking on pcpartpicker and it seems like you can get more cores and faster processing for less with AMD. Would that be accurate?

Yes it is accurate. You should really consider ryzen 3. But if you want you can wait for tomorrow's coffe lake pentiums or i3's. If intel's are cheaper feel free to go intel, if ryzen still beats them with price and performance you can go AMD

Is Ryzen the one I should use for gaming or could I chose a different processor such as the FX?

There are CPU's with 4 cores and multithreading such as the ryzen 5. This is better than one without multi threading?

NO! FX cpus were the very bad cpus and thats why everyone is talking about ryzen, they are low tdp and higher performance! Nowadays FX cpus are very outdated, they have sky high tdp (TDP = Power consumption) and bad performance, Ryzen is the newer than fx and it is a lot better.

Multi threading is performance using all cores, maybe you're confusing it with Turbo clock or something
