Hi everyone,

I am planning to upgrade my gtx 760 but is it smart to buy a 1050ti or 1060 now or should I wait? I've read somewhere that in the early fall there could be a pascal refresh but there is no conformation about that... I am not waiting for Volta cause it aint coming very soon...

Depends on what you're looking for. Pascal is coming up to it's aniversary soon. You'd have to imagine nividea has something in the pipeline to match up with the latest AMD cards hitting the market if only to maintain the media cycle. But yeah, the same advice holds. If you can get a great deal on a card buy it. If you can't then wait for the next cycle of cards. They'll either be so much better you won't care, or they'll drive the price of the current gen down.

Well not that AMD put so much pressure on Nvidia, Vega isn't really what I expected and can you guess when those new cards could be announced?

Volta is quite a way off, earliest I can see it arriving is that it's announced at CES 2018, so Q1-Q2 release. We know NVIDIA won't be launching anything before the holidays at least

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Spoiler

And do you have any idea for the pascal refresh? Or is that a fake rumour?

Depends on what Pascal card you are getting. If it's 1070 or above level then I'd say go for it. Otherwise, just the 900 series will do.

I'd say that's fake seeing as I have never hard of it, it's not on any road map I have ever seen and it feels pretty unlikely

late in the cycle to announce this year. I'd have expected to hear something by now if they were going to hit the october- december launch window. Maybe febuarary, but they might delay it a bit longer to see what else AMD has in the pipeline. The vega cards didn't challenge their gaming line. They did do interesting things in the professional lineup however. anything that isn't cuda optimised those cards were better.

I don't think so. Nvidia has ditched making refresh since the 900 series, Maxwell cards. In the past, old architectures like Fermi (4xx and 5xx) and Kepler (6xx and 7xx) got used for 2 generations, but Maxwell only appeared in one generation. I think Nvidia is not taking AMD lightly (unlike Intel hue hue hue) and will keep making progress in architecture.
