Web App Manifest

Sniperfox47

I'm not sure why this hasn't been brought up before but is there any chance we can get a WebApp Manifest set up for this site? Would be useful for mobile users.

Some of the benefits:

Start URL so that even if I create my link from inside a forum post, it'll still take me to the frontpage.

Relatively easy to have a nice splash screen while loading the site

Standalone mode gets rid of all the browser UI junk on smaller screens

Have theme colour set once so that it works consistently through the site

On Android O, the site gets added to the app drawer.

This stuff would only affect users who add your website to their homescreen, but would give them all the plusses of having a native app with the only cost for this websites dev team being the 5 minutes to create the manifest json.

I tried to do my own setup for it, but sadly manifest files don't work cross-domain xD

might be more interesting for FPC, as a html5 webapp

Yeah, but then you'd need different manifests for each content creator/channel.

Hope they're designing FPC with PWA guidelines in mind, but even for a Non-PWA site like this, a WebApp Manifest would be useful.
