Comparable phone to the S8

xtr650

Been a while, LTT boys.

I'm looking for a phone that's comparable and or better than the S8. Unlocked is fine, if not has to be a T-Mobile device. Only reason i'm looking for something other than the s8 is because my roommate has one and had it replacement 3 times from it not charging, or giving an water error when it hasn't been near water at all. The issue is fixed now, but considering the Note 7 disaster, i'd like to stay away from samsung even though i've used one for the past 8 years.

So in short, any recommendations for a phone that's better than the S8. Screen, camera, and battery are the only specs that really matter to me personally.

Thanks!

So... the other flagships from this year?
LG G6, Google Pixel, HTX U11, Sony Xperia XZ, iPhone 7, OnePlus 5

Usually a pretty consistent list every year.

Replacing a phone 3 times for charging issues would leave me to believe there's a problem with the person charging it and not the phone.

I thought so too, but everyone is having that issue. The 3rd phone solved it, for now at least.

I was thinking about the Xperia xz, or p10

I'm sorry I invaded your safe space. Just want peoples opinions on this years line of phones; and for some reason you decided that an error or bug is impossible with the software coding. S8 wasn't near water, had the error.. It's that simple, don't really care if you don't believe it.

Look, @nerdslayer1 was just trying to help. If the phone actually didn't get wet directly then maybe steam from a shower or something? It's also super unlikely that the charging issue would occur three times with the same person... sorry if I invaded your 'safe space' ;)

Now for the topic, all of today's flagship phones will do basically the same thing. Personally I would go for a Pixel just for the cleaner OS. The 7 Plus is also a really nice phone, if you can put up with the lack of 3.5mm jack connectivity...

That's an F in the profile pic

I've got the Sony Xperia XZ Premium and I think it's great. The speakers are "loud enough" but I suspect if you wanted to drive some beefy headphones it might have a bit of trouble seeing how loud I have to run the standard earphones. Coverage works great (at least 1 bar better than my Z5).

Downsides so far have only really been the lack of an ability to find a half decent case (spigen are the only "brand" I've found so far) and the usual aweful fingerprint magnet rear cover.

Just bear in mind that if your in the US the fingerprint reader is disabled.

Unless you buy the International variant ;)

My roommate has the Z5P and loves it. This was going to be his next phone but it hasn't come to his Canadian carrier.

The P10 Plus is the phone you want to look at if you're into photography. It has a much better camera system in it. It also excels at battery life and it'd very snappy. It's on my shortlist for a phone to buy, if I can find a good deal.

Can you wait? The Huawei Mate 10 should be the device you're looking for. They usually have massive batteries, and superb cameras. October is expected launch. The LG V30 also comes it at the end of the month if you'd like to gamble with potential boot looping, and Nokia releases their flagship later this week.
