usefulness of dialupmodem in 2017

bcguru9384

the dialup modem is an overlooked asset.

yes it has abysmal network bandwidth but it natively talk to phone line as a phone

so if dialupmodem installed(most have 2 ports) you hookup 2 phone lines(or 1 phone 1 voip) now you can be anywhere in world and do your office work(including calls to clients as if you were at office(caller id show you as office))

this achieved by calling the pc on 1 line then three way calling on 2nd line

"as if you were at office"

well, maybe if your office is from 1992.  I think most people would find the speeds of dialup unacceptable today for any task, even basic office work.

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

not to be used as modem for data just voice conversion for talking(telephone)

data side HELL NO my farts carry more bandwith but to offload tasks that cpu normally do to SOC(all pci cards are) is helpful,

your pc still use ethernet or wifi but now can shuttle native phone line calls as well
