I agree that the current system is stupid. I have pointed out to the developers numerous times that the current system is stupid. Unfortunately, the developers have shown no interest in fixing this, and fixing it without them isn't really possible because it would involve significant changes to the stock code, in ways that aren't really supported.

I know this is something that is wanted by a lot of people though.

YES. We need this.

 

I go check my notifications and there's like 20 notifications from one status update. I always end up having to check the links of them in order to make sure I'm not opening one notification twice. Annoying as hell.

 

Also annoying as hell when it gives you two notifications when someone mentions you in a status update.

Make sure to quote me or tag me when responding to me, or I might not know you replied! Examples:
