Oc'ed i5 6500 vs Ryzen 5 1600

I am currently saving for a Ryzen 5 1600 and a B250 mainboard. Right now I am using an i5 6500 and a Gigabyte GA-B150M-D3H. Since it'll take a few more months to save the money required to buy the Ryzen 5 and a board, I consider buying a used z170 board and a cooler to overclock my i5 with a bios update to get some more performance out of it. 

So, is buying a used mainboard + cooler for ~€80-85. Is it worth it? Or should I just keep my money and use it for the Ryzen 5 upgrade?

Keep the money for a Ryzen upgrade. Overclocking i5s is not worth it

Otherwise, yes it's impossible to OC a locked cpu with any intel board.

But then the latest bios supported features wont be available also BCLK overclocking can be finicky and not worth it
