Engineering sample CPUs? Should I buy one?

ES CPUs are a crapshoot. Sometimes you find a $50 i5-6500. Sometimes you pay $200 for an i7-6700 with hyperthreading disabled and a clock capped at 3.0GHz.

Long story short, unless it's from a known good source, I wouldn't gamble on one. That's if you put aside the ethical questions about owning one in the first place.

"owning"

Maybe "having in your physical control" would be a better description :P

quoted the wrong person by mistake >_<

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

It's not like I would be hurting anyone by buying one... It's not like Intel would want it back.
